Nokia announced today several enhancements for Lumia series mobiles. Recent improvements are available to owners of Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia Lumia 710 and Nokia Lumia 610. And I still miss a memory card support.
Lack of support for memory cards will not be changed, unfortunately, by any patch for the software. It remains to enjoy what the Microsoft partnership with Nokia offers to holders of three Lumias. Here's what it is-will be available:
- Lumia 900 2175.2101.8779.12201: Enhanced sensitivity for proximity sensor performance and improvement to your phone's screen colours in low light conditions.
- Lumia 710 version 1600.3031.8779.12180: Internet sharing (Wi-Fi Hotspot) - Share your phone's internet connection over Wi-Fi with up to five other devices or computers and Flip to silence - Silence incoming calls by turning your phone face down.
- Lumia 610 version 1066.0000.8779.12201: Enhanced sensitivity for proximity sensor performance and improved sound level for alarm tone during voice calls.
Three phones to update
Users of Windows-based Nokia actually complained about the blocking of inaccurate touch screen during calls, but I did not think that the problem is so serious. I think all Lumia 710 users will enjoy the hotspot feature, simply because it is sometimes useful.
In theory, everyone should get on the phone a notification of a specific update available for the model and be able to install it later by Zune client, but it may prove equally effective simply to look to the local Nokia Support to see if the update is ready.
