We've been hearing for months about a Facebook phone. There appear various projects, there were HTC models with a dedicated button - but so far we have not seen anything signed only by a popular brand of service. According to Bloomberg, this will change soon ...

Bloomberg service reported, citing "reliable sources" that the first smartphone that we will be able to recognize as the "real Facebook-phone," is expected to debut in the middle of next year. According to Bloomberg, the device will receive a special, dedicated operating system. According to analysts, this system is to base on Android, it will have a completely different, subordinate to Facebook graphical interface. Facebook has reportedly hired several former Apple and Palma engineers, who work on this system, or - more precisely speaking - at the Android modification. HTC is to take care of hardware side of the whole project. It has already worked with Facebook on Salsa and ChaCha models.

Just after several hours Bloomberg reports were denied by Mark Zuckerberg, who was to say "Building out a phone wouldn't make sense for us to do." But he did not elaborate on his statement, which allows to speculate what he meant. His comment could be interpreted as a confirmation of the fact that Facebook engineers do not construct the phone, but only develop the software that goes into the model supplied by an outside manufacturer. A total departure from the concept of their own phone would be risky, because according to recent figures, more than half of the 900 million users of the service are mobile users. Would Zuckerberg leave such a market?
