Will Samsung REX beat Nokia Asha?

Although the market is dominated by smartphones, there is still a group of buyers looking for an affordable, well-equipped mobiles, which, however, are not smartphones. Nokia has Asha series and Samsung wants to fight with it, showing REX series.

The series consists of four phones. All will operate in a dual-SIM mode, but some sources say that each of the models will also appear in single-SIM version. On the manufacturer's website (as for Friday morning) we did not see single-SIM models, but in all specifications there is stated dual-SIM as an option, which indicates the existence of two variants of each REX.

REX series belongs to the category of so-called FeaturePhone. All phones work on the internal company system with a TouchWiz interface, enriched with widgets and social networking service. Mobiles will use the internet, but only in speeds offered by EDGE and basic internet access will be via Opera Mini. All the mobiles will have webcams and microSD card slost, each buyer can also count to ten free games from Gameloft.

The top model in the series is the Samsung REX 90, equipped with a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. This model has the best in the series, 3.2-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth and a battery with a capacity of 1000 mAh, which is enough for 15 hours of talk time. Next model in the Samsung REX 80 with a 3-inch display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels. Other parts and equipment are consistent with the above model.

The Samsung REX 70 is also similar to the higher models, but has only a 2-megapixel camera and does not have a Wi-Fi network. The cheapest (and easiest) offer in the new series is the Samsung REX 60. It uses a 2.8-inch resistive display and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Other models - as you've probably already guessed, have displays in capacitive technology.

Unfortunately, I can not give you the prices of new models today. There shouldn’t be high - I suspect that the most expensive model will cost not more than 120 euro (160 dollars).
