In New York, LG officially presented the LG G7 ThinQ model. This year, the Korean company broke with tradition and instead of presenting the flagship at MWC, it does so only now.
In LG G7 ThinQ styling you can see the echoes of the previous model, but there are also many changes. The display has a narrower border and this year's fashion – a notch. It is true that LG defines additional surfaces next to the notch as an additional screen (as once in the V series) - but really a nitch is a notch...
LG G7 ThinQ screen has a diagonal of 6.1 inches and a resolution of 3120x1440 pixels and a brightness of 1000 rivets. The LCD matrix supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 technologies, and the software has six different display modes, depending on the nature of the image being viewed.
The brain of LG G7 ThinQ is - according to forecasts - an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, supported by the Adreno 630 graphics chip. LG G7 ThinQ will be offered in two memory versions. The base model has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, while the "Plus" variant will receive a memory of 6 + 128 GB. Of course, the data memory can be expanded with a microSD card.
LG G7 ThinQ is equipped with LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and dual band Wi-Fi, the phone also has a minijack, FM radio and USB-C port. The fingerprint reader and the face recognition system take care of the safety, while the power supply is ensured by a 3000 mAh battery with fast Quick Charge 3.0 charging and a wireless Qi option. LG G7 ThinQ also has an additional key to quickly launch the Google Assistant or Google Lens, and also offers the launch of the assistant by voice - even from a distance of 5 m (Super Far Field Voice Recognition - SFFVR).
LG G7 ThinQ received a camera with two 16-megapixel sensors, one with a standard lens with f/1.6 brightness and the other with a wide-angle camera with a field of view of 107 degrees but brightness f/1.9. The camera has optical image stabilization and software using artificial intelligence. It also introduces the option of saving an animated photo (Live Photo) and blurring the background. The front camera with 8 Mpx matrix and f/1.9 lens offers intelligent beautification. 32-bit D/A converter takes care of sound quality, offering, among others, virtualization of surround sound in DTS: X 3D headphones or support of lossless MQA codec (Master Quality Authenticated). The phone also has a Boombox loudspeaker that uses the casing as a resonance box and gives the sound a high power and dynamics.
LG G7 ThinQ has a housing based on a metal frame and two sheets of Gorilla Glass 5. The housing is waterproof (IP68) and resistant to destruction (MIL-STD 810G). You can choose from four colours: New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose. The prices of the new smartphone have not yet been announced - it will probably be announced at local launches on individual markets.
