The American branch of Alcatel, without much publicity, introduced the Alcatel Idol 5S model. The phone continues the design line and the general assumptions of Idol 4.
Alcatel Idol 5S resembles with its line the predecessor. A characteristic feature is the front bezel metal frame, which incorporates stereo speakers with a power of 3.6 W (probably "reversible" - as in the predecessor). The rear is finished with 2.5D glass with concentric pattern, which center is a fingerprint scanner plate. The display, hidden behind a 2.5DD Dragontrail glass, has a diagonal of 5.2 inches and FullHD resolution.

The heart of Idol 5S is an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 2GHz Cortex-A53 cores powered by 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 506 graphics chip. The phone has 32GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for up to 512GB. The phone also received LTE Cat6, 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.2 and a minijack and USB-C ports. It has a built-in 2620 mAh battery.

The photo part includes a 12-megapixel OmniVision OV12870 main camera with PDAF, EIS, dual LED flash and f/2.0 lens, and a front-facing OmniVision OV8865 with an 8-megapixel sensor and f/2.0 lens. Alcatel Idol 5S uses the Android 7.1 Nougat system and costs US $ 280. On Amazon, however, you can already have it for $ 199, accepting the version containing the store ads. For now we do not know if the European version of Idol 5S will have the same equipment as the US model.
