ASUS was supposed to show new models in the Zenfone 5 family during the Mobile World Congress fair. And so it actually happened. And in this way we are pleased to present Zenfon 5, Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone 5 Lite models.
We are in Pabellón de Italia, where ASUS organized a press conference - the conference on which it presented a new installment of the Zenfone 5 series under the slogan #Backto5. Look what it looked like, and then we'll show you the premiere models:
At first, let's take the ASUS Zenfone 5 (model ZE620KL), available in Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver. Of course, this is a model with a display that occupies the majority of the front panel - in this case, the ratio of the screen size to the housing is 90%. This is a 6.2-inch FullHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19: 9. Both the front and rear of the device has curved 2.5D glass. Attention is drawn to the characteristic notch of the screen. It is worth noting that the screen offers brightness of more than 500 rivets and a contrast of 1500: 1 and 100% coverage of DCI-P3, used in digital films of the colour palette.
The heart of the device is the 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, supported by Adreno 509 graphics and 4 or 6 GB of RAM. There are 64 GB of internal memory available to the user. Of course, there is a set of communication modules here: Wi-Fi in the standard a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS or NFC navigation. For this USB-C, a fingerprint scanner, support for two SIM cards (in nano size) with the possibility of installing in one slot a microSD card up to 2TB.
Behind the pictures stands a dual main camera: a 12-megapixel camera with Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and an additional wide-angle lens (120 degrees) - there are many features to improve the shooting experience (Night HDR, intelligent scene detection, AI Photo Learning and others) .). For portraits, the 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, PixelMaster, HDR and the unlocking function of the phone with Face Unlock. The main camera allows you to record video in 4K UHD quality (3840x2160 pixels) at 60 frames per second. The front camera records in fullHD quality.
Zenfone 5 works under the control of Android Oreo with the ASUS ZenUI 5.0 interface. This overlay is not to be cluttered with unnecessary or duplicate applications, while only the Facebook and Instagram software will be available from external producers. The whole is powered by a 3300 mAh battery. We should also mention two speakers (NXP 9874 Smart AMPs) and numerous functions related to artificial intelligence (eg AI Display, AI Photo Learning or AI Charging).
The second model that ASUS showed is almost identical to Zenfone 5. Specifically, it is Zenfone 5Z (marked ZS620KL). What is the difference between them? Basically only the guts. Z5 was equipped with Snapdragon 845 (in the 10nm process) and Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Engine, Adreno 630 graphics, UFS RAM 2.1 to 8 GB and 256 GB of built-in memory. Other parameters and elements of equipment, appearance and dimensions are identical to those of Zenfone 5.
But the real second novelty is ASUS Zenfone 5 Lite (ZC600KL). It is available in three colours: Midnight Black, Rouge Red and Moonlight White. It is equipped with a 6-inch FullHD+ screen, and the ratio of the display size to the housing is 80.3%. It is available in versions with Qualcomm Snapdragon 640 and Adreno 508 or Snapdragon 430 and Adreno 505. The smartphone is available with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal memory.
The main attention is drawn to the dual camera from the front - one of the lenses is a 20-megapixel unit with a Sony IMX376 sensor and a f/2.0 aperture, the second lens is wide-angle (120 degrees), which allows more people to be shot. The main camera is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and an additional wide-angle lens. It allows you to record video up to a maximum 4K UHD.
ASUS Zenfone 5 Lite is equipped with a microUSB port and a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. It also has two slots for SIM cards (in nano size) and a separate microSD card slot (up to 2 TB). The smartphone will work under the control of Android Oreo with the ZenUI 5.0 interface (update is scheduled for the third quarter of the year) and has a battery with a capacity of 3300 mAh.
