LG officially presented the model, which we perfectly know from numerous unofficial leaks. LG V40 ThinQ tempts with five cameras and an attractive housing, but scares with a notch in the screen.
The appearance of LG V40 ThinQ is not a surprise for us. The smartphone strongly refers to its predecessors - it has a metal frame, a notch in the screen, but also a new way of finishing, called Silky Blast. It is to ensure a better grip of the housing and its lower susceptibility to dirt. The whole should also be durable and tight - in accordance with IP68 and MIL-STD 810G standards. The housing comes in four colors, which are called New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Carmine Red.
The heart of the phone is an octa-core Snapdragon 845, supported by 6 GB of RAM. The internal memory can be 64 or 128 GB and can be expanded with a microSD card. The screen measures 6.4 inches, is made in OLED technology and has a resolution of 3120x1440 pixels. Unfortunately, it has a notch (with the possibility of masking), but it offers support for HDR10. Power is provided by a 3300 mAh battery with fast or wireless charging, and the equipment is complemented by, among others, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio or a fingerprint scanner.
However, the most important are cameras. The front is dual, with 8 and 5 megapixel matrices and lenses with apertures f/1.9 and f/2.2 and fields of view of 80 and 90 degrees, respectively. At the back of the lens there are three lenses. The first has a f/1.5 aperture, Dual PDAF, optical stabilization and includes an angle of 78 degrees, and the underlying matrix is 12-megapixel, with pixels of 1.4 micrometres. The second matrix has 16 1-micron megapixels and a wide-angle lens with f/1.9 aperture and a 107-degree field of view. The last lens - tele, with f/2.4 aperture, a 45-degree view angle and a 12 Mpx matrix with pixel sized micrometer. This lens gives you a 2-fold lossless zoom.
Interestingly, each of the matrices can register the same shot, thanks to which we will get three different frames - from wide to closeup. In addition, the Cine Shot function will appear, giving the photo with the animated portion of the frame. Of course, there will be artificial intelligence or background blur, and the sound will be taken care of by the 32-bit Quad DAC Hi-Fi converter with DTS support: X 3D Surround Sound available for headphones connected by the minijack. Alternatively, the music will be listened to by the powerful Boombox Speaker.
For now, the price for the European market has not been determined, but it is known that in the US LG V40 ThinQ costs about $ 950.
