More sources confirm the disturbing rumours about the postponement of the premiere of new Apple smartphones. The reason is supply shortages that may affect the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in particular.

We first heard about the risk of delaying the launch of the iPhone 15 a few months ago in the Haitong International Securities newsletter. Its reason was to be the increased demand for new 48 Mpx cameras - this time not only in the Pro models, but also in the basic iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Analyst Jeff Pu, however, reassured that a September premiere without delay remains the most likely scenario. Now, however, we also hear about a later premiere from other sources.

One of them is the magazine The Information , according to which the difficulties will cause thinner frames of iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The displays of these smartphones are produced in the new LG Display production process, which may introduce delays, similar to the month-long delay in the launch of the seventh installment of the Apple Watch with an enlarged screen.

Troublesome scenarios are also explored by Barron's Wamsi Mohan, global securities analyst at Bank of America. According to him, there is a risk of postponing the premiere of this year's Apple smartphones to the fourth quarter of 2023, which theoretically could mean a delay of several months, but most likely the premiere is in October. In this case, the reason for the potential delays was not given. It is possible that in addition to the mentioned cameras and display, the A17 processor also causes supply problems, with chips manufactured by TSMC in the new 3nm process.
