Great display, interesting interface, good price

Connectivity and communication

Meizu M2 Note supports a whole range of standards and technologies: 2G/GPRS/EDGE, 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA, LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS with aGPS and GLONASS. From physical ports we have a microUSB for charging the battery and transferring data (it supports USB OTG) and a universal jack. While none of the modules mentioned before did not cause any problems I am slightly disappointed with the navigation. The smartphone quickly locked the fix (from aGPS) and showed the position, but it happened to lose the signal during a ride. What is more it was not precise and it happened many times that it showed the position of the smartphone in rather longer distances from the actual route.

The smartphone has a dual SIM mode (a hybrid one, we can use either two SIM cards or a one SIM card and a microSD card), but only one of these cards can be used in 3G/4G networks – the second one will be limited to 2G. In settings we can change the name of each cards and select which one will work in faster networks, supporting data transfer and roaming. When it comes to making calls and sending the user will have the possibility to select a preferred SIM card. And, what is more, when exchanging the cards the phone does not need to be restarted. In most cases voice calls did not cause any problems, though I would prefer the speaker to be louder. It is possible to record calls (to the MP3 format).

Typing did not cause bigger problems – the display is large, as well as virtual buttons, the touch panel is well-calibrated, typing is comfortable and mostly correct. There is preinstalled TouchPal keyboard – but we can download a different one from the Google store as well.

Memory and efficiency

Meizu M2 Note is equipped with 16GB of memory, from which the user is left with around 11.5GB. This space can be expanded by microSD cards (unless we prefer to use two numbers, that is two SIM cards). Let us not forget about USB OTG that enables us to use external drives, pendrives or disks.

The heart of the device is an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 with a 1.3 GHz clock. It is supported with Mali T720 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. In practice this set worked perfectly during everyday tasks and during a more demanding tasks. I used it for a week mainly for gaming (mostly Real Racing 3), long calls, writing longer pieces of this review and for a video streaming – and I did not have to complain even once. During an intensive usage it only slightly heated in the area of the main camera.
