Hello, dear readers! Today we are taking a closer look at the smartphone that caught my attention at the first contact - Motorola Edge 40 Neo. Why? Because it smells!

Set and appearance
Motorola deserves recognition right from the start, providing the set not only with the smartphone itself, but also with a dedicated 68-watt charger and a stylish and practical cover made of ecological material that goes perfectly with the colour of the case. The casing, made of imitation artificial leather (in the blue version I tested), turned out to be not only aesthetic, but also practical - it is scratch-resistant and does not collect fingerprints.

Ergonomics and display
Despite the generally positive reception of the device's ergonomics, I cannot ignore the location of the fingerprint reader, which in my opinion is placed too low. In practice, this requires some thumb exercise, but fortunately the reader itself works flawlessly. The 6.55-inch display, made in P.OLED technology, offers Full HD+ resolution and an impressive image refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. With a maximum brightness of up to 1,300 nits, the screen performs well even in direct sunlight, providing a clear and contrasting image.

Sound and interface
In terms of sound, Motorola chose stereo speakers, which, although they do not offer perfectly symmetrical sound, can impress with their loudness. However, there are moments when sopranos can sound a bit too aggressive. In head connections, the sound quality is no longer a reason to complain, and the smartphone can also be praised for its support for the eSIM standard. The interface, based on Android 13, is relatively raw and devoid of an excess of unnecessary applications, although there are noticeable attempts to smuggle in additional proposed applications. Numerous additions from Motorola are a plus, such as gestures and the ability to personalize the appearance of the interface.

Performance and battery
Under the hood of the Motorola Edge 40 Neo there is a MediaTek 7030 supported by 12 GB of RAM and an additional virtual RAM with a capacity of 3 GB. Although it does not set new records in benchmarks, it performs flawlessly in everyday use, coping well even with demanding games. A 5000 mAh battery ensures all-day operation with moderate use, and 68 W fast charging allows you to quickly top up the energy.

Camera
The camera set, consisting of a 50 MPx main sensor and an 8 MPx wide-angle sensor with a macro function, offers decent photographic possibilities. In daylight, photos are sharp and well-balanced, although in lower lighting conditions the quality drops slightly. Available features such as night mode and portrait modes add value to the overall photo quality. The front camera is a 32 MPx unit.

Summary
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is a solid mid-range device that offers decent performance, a good-quality screen and a decent camera quality at a reasonable price. Of course, like any smartphone, it also has its shortcomings, but overall, it is a good option for people looking for a reliable device at a moderate price.
