Sound
The smartphone has a single speaker on the lower edge, which is loud enough and it has a quality good enough for watching movies or gaming – though it is easy to mute it with a finger while holding the device in a horizontal orientation. It is a pity that the speaker for calls does not work in the stereo system, but the presence of a universal minijack and an FM radio are advantages. Basically, the smartphone simply sounds good and clear, though we cannot hear lower tones. But other models in the similar price shelf will not impress us with a deep sound. I will add that there are no options of changing the sound or apps like Dolby Atmos or Huawei Histen. On the other hand, we can use aptX and LDAC codes while listening to music wirelessly.

Photos and video
At the beginning of the year, HMD Global presented Nokia 9 Pureview, which has 5 cameras. Nokia 7.2 has fewer cameras, and effects of their work can be seen in the gallery. What is more, it has Zeiss optics and a LED flash.
We can take photos with this smartphone while using the triple camera, which consists of a 48-megapixel main module (f/1.9), 8-megapixel wide-angle lens (f/2.2, 118 degrees) and a 5-megapixel camera for depth measurement. In practice, we can take photos using first two cameras. The main unit takes photos in a 12-megapixel resolution, connecting four pixels into one – which translates into a better quality of photos – there are no problems to force the 48 megapixel resolution. All cameras along with the LED flash are placed symmetrically on a round module (with the ZEISS marking in the middle), which stands above the housing a lot.
We can be pleased with the photography results - Nokia 7.2 is a model priced at around 299 euro and it does not need to have any complexes around its competition, though it cannot be distinguished with anything in particular either. Photos taken in the daylight are great, they are bright with a good saturation and level of details. However, photos taken at night, whether with the use of an auto or the night mode do not fulfil our expectations. Especially those taken with the wide-angle lens camera (it does not have an autofocus, just a fixed one). Differences between the standard and the wide angle lenses can be seen in the photo’s preview. Besides a different angle, cameras have different apertures, they offer a different white balance and different colours. What more we can complain about? Mostly about the lack of OIS, and the fact that after touching the trigger photos are not taken immediately. I am not talking about the night mode, the delay is visible even while taking photos in the auto mode.

The camera app is probably the only addition from Nokia to the pure Android. We can use the artificial intelligence while taking photos (scenery recognition), there is an automatic HDR, saving photos in the form of RAW files (in Photo and Pro modes). There are shortcuts on the main screen (close at hand) to the timer, beautifying and turning on the LED flash. There are shortcuts for switching cameras (standard and wide angle) and browsing the list of modes.

When it comes to the video recording it is worth noticing the appropriate and able work of the stabilization while recording in 1080p. I had no concerns towards the smoothness of recordings, their colours and focus and the quality of the recorded sound, supported by OZO Audio. When it comes to 4K recordings it is best to have a gimbal. There is no possibility to select FPS number and it is best to forget about recording with the wide angle – photos taken with this camera do not look that great either. We cannot switch between cameras while recording. And here are video recording results:
A 20-megapixel camera (f/2.0) with Zeiss optics is responsible for taking selfies. It provides numerous photography effects and background blurring. The latter sometimes works better, sometimes a bit worse – it usually has problems with hair. Basically, the photos’ quality is acceptable, average in its price shelf.
