Efficiency, battery, communication

This time I will not bore you with the efficiency. It is great – but did you expect anything else from a phone that has 8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 835?

There is basically nothing to talk about, OnePlus 5 is in the lead and it is difficult to find any app (or rather – a set of apps) that would exhaust the phone. The device heats up minimally and only when we will really force it to work.

But every rose has its thorns: in OnePlus 5 you cannot use microSD cards. There is 128GB of memory (in reality around 111GB), but such a powerful smartphone begs for quickly filling it up with games or movies. As a consolation there is the USB-C socket with the OTG mode, but it is not the same as a card…

I will add that you can buy OnePlus 5 in the 6+64GB version – but I do not expect that this set will have any problems with efficiency either.

Battery? Here we can forget about “killing” models from the competition. It is good, but it is not perfect. The battery can be filled really quickly, in less than 1.5 hours and what is important is that it does not heat up too much, just like the charger.

Of course the lifespan depends mostly on how we are using the phone, but you can assume that OnePlus 5 will be able to work for full 2 days.

During the IFA convention, where it was my basic work and communication device, the smartphone was able to “survive” for around 5-6 hours, which I consider as a good result.

The fact that we can prolong the lifespan by plugging the phone for 20-30 minutes us equally important. After this the phone was able to last until midnight. It is worth mentioning that I did not notice a faster battery depletion in the DualSIM mode.

The equipment of OnePlus 5 is complemented by the fingerprint scanner. It is placed where I personally do not like it – below the display. Fortunately the scanner works great, unlocking the phone instantly almost every time.

For dozens of tries maybe two or three were unsuccessful. In this case this is really a “flagship killer”, especially of those with the apple on their housing. In addition the scanner can secure access to selected apps, unfortunately it cannot be turned into a touchpad. Still I mark it really high.

As a communication device OnePlus 5 works well. I did not notice any problems with maintain the coverage or with an automatic download of operator’s configurations, there were no problems with Wi-Fi connectivity (supposedly there are some) or with Bluetooth.

GPS gives no reason to complain either – I have been using OnePlus while walking and I did not notice anything disturbing. The quality of voice calls is good and the power of two speakers is enough.

The phone proved itself in loud halls of the IFA convention – so it is really good. I have no concerns towards the quality of played music either (we can switch to aptX or aptXHD codecs), it is a pity that the standard Google app is responsible for playing music and that the DualSIM works in the passive mode.
