Description

The Realme 12 Pro+ was released in early 2024. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone is IP65 certified and has received TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Strobe-free certifications. Additionally, it supports Pro-XDR technology, with a peak brightness of 950 nits. Audio is handled by stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio certification and Dolby Atmos technology. Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset running Android 14, it is available in 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB, or 12/512 GB configurations. The 5000 mAh battery supports 67W fast charging with the included charger. The camera island houses three lenses: a 50 MP main sensor with optical and electronic image stabilization (OIS/EIS), an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens. The latter features 3x lossless zoom, 6x hybrid zoom, and 120x digital zoom. A 32 MP selfie camera is integrated into the display. Camera filters were co-developed with Oscar winner Claudio Miranda, and the device utilizes the MasterShot algorithm developed with Qualcomm across all focal lengths to ensure superior color and lighting reproduction. The phone's design was created in collaboration with luxury watch designer Ollivier Savéo. The smartphone also supports Flash Capsule and is available in beige and navy blue.

The "downgrade" of memory from UFS 3.1 in the Realme 11 Pro+ to UFS 2.2 in this model seems surprising. Unless it is some kind of false media report, but many websites provide exactly these parameters.
I admit openly that I did not find the source of the error (it probably remained unverified from some preliminary, unconfirmed specifications), but indeed, although Realme itself does not state it, I found binding information that it is UFS 3.1. Thank you for pointing out the error and best regards. (jf)

The phone is stable, but it definitely should have the Snap 7 here instead of the 7s. This is especially noticeable after taking a photo, when the captured image is optimized by AI only after a second. I do not find any general lack of stability. There is also no point in adding more RAM because this 12 GB runs efficiently. Photos from the main camera are decent, comparable to the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and other mid-range devices. They are quite well-optimized. Telephoto photos are at a flagship level. I love this zoom. From a distance where a sign under the license plate frame is not visible to the naked eye, this phone focuses easily and the text can be read. Even the 6x zoom is great. The wide-angle lens is just a filler. It appears in much cheaper phones and adds nothing. The software works stably. Any reactions to touch or setting changes are instantaneous. Display 9/10. Only the maximum brightness is a bit low. It is noticeable when using a drone. Be careful with drones that have a remote controller, as the camera is so thick that it sometimes gets in the way. The battery lasts one day and nothing more. I have no idea where the praise for up to 8 hours of screen-on time comes from. 6 hours is the maximum with a dark theme and automatic refresh rate setting. The film and case included in the set collect every speck of dust. WiFi works spectacularly well. Previously I had the OnePlus Nord 2 CE 5G and there the home WiFi with the router was a maximum of 10 Mbit, on this one it is 500 by 500 Mbit. It is similar in other places. Bluetooth connects to two devices simultaneously and does not disconnect without reason; it is stable. The phone sounds nice and stereo can be heard. The overlay is light and does not slow down the software. It also has a multitude of settings. Overall, I rate the phone 8.2/10.

I have been using it since June 2024, purchased as a new 12/512 version. Advantages: camera, connection stability, signal strength is stronger by "half" (compared to the Samsung A54 5G), the battery easily lasts 2 days, RAM can be expanded to 24 GB. Regarding disadvantages, one thing I noticed is that I am poorly heard when I speak on the phone's speakerphone. After switching to the top one, it returns to normal. I charge it with a standard 25 W charger to avoid damaging the battery with very fast charging. The time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from 10-100%. The 67 W charger included in the set charges in less than an hour. Among the advantages, the leather-like back of the phone should be mentioned, as it does not show fingerprints. This is my second Chinese device, and peaceful use for about 3 years will not cause the system to slow down the phone as happened with Samsung devices, and I used to be only their supporter. Following this logic, Samsung provides 5 years of security and 4 years of updates, while Realme provides 4 and 3 respectively. Okay, but after updates, Samsung begins to slow down, becomes slow in operation, etc., which forces people to purchase subsequent newer models. The last Chinese device I used ended updates after 3 years and, apart from a weaker battery, it still performed as quickly as at the beginning. It is known that all companies operate in a similar way, but there are differences that can be seen in the smoothness of the device's operation after the so-called updates... Kind regards to the readers.

Disappointment.
I will start with the advantages.
- Great camera for a mid-range device, very nice photos from the main lens by day and at night, sometimes they turn out even better, very nice vivid colors, great zoom for this price range, slightly weaker than in OP12, but for this price it is excellent.
- very good display.
- very solid signal range.
- fast charging 67 W (although it could be faster, the predecessor probably had 100 W)
- good speakers.
- and what impressed me the most... the appearance and build quality... something beautiful... I had the phone in the blue version.
And now the disadvantages.
- extremely slow processor that disqualifies this phone, I will never buy a mid-range device again, even if it were made of gold and no matter how much I liked it. the camera application freezes, the photo gallery constantly experiences delays when browsing, as does the entire interface when using the phone, additionally it is still impossible to download and install a new update because an error is displayed, factory reset did not help.
I sold this poor quality device, even though I used it only as a second phone for the internet and photos, I still did not have the patience to experience difficulties with it any longer.
I do not recommend... it is better to buy a 3-4 year old former flagship that will work much faster.

I have owned the Realme 12 Pro+ for several months, so I think I can write something about it.

Regarding the appearance, it is a truly beautiful phone.
Battery... unfortunately, I thought it would be better, but with my usage, it lasts at most one full day; it occasionally becomes warm.
Cameras,
I bought it for moon photography and it is actually very good, better than the Huawei P30 Pro, which I also use.
Evening photos, unfortunately, are a disadvantage.
They are better from the Huawei, or even the Honor 70.
Daytime photos are very nice, but it has happened (rarely, but still) that a photo, or part of it, came out out of focus.
I hope an update will change this.
Screen brightness: when I was buying it, I was afraid it would be similar to the Honor 70 because they have similar brightness, but fortunately, the Realme is significantly superior to the Honor.
Someone wrote that it freezes; in my case, it has not happened during this period, zero problems with applications or the camera.

Overall, I am satisfied.

I have had the phone for 5 months. I switched from the reliable Samsung Galaxy A52 and... it did not make any great impression on me. The photos are indeed often nice, but they also very often blur in automatic mode and especially at night, when the camera attempts (often unsuccessfully) to improve the quality of night photos. The 120x zoom is a falsehood, because already at 30x it is impossible to control the phone due to one-second delays. The smoothness of operation is very standard, there are occasional stutters and it heats up very often. Fast charging stopped being fast after a month of use. Now, although fast charging activates, instead of thirty or so minutes it charges for a full 50. Generally, after many reviews claiming it is a flagship at a mid-range price, I must say it is simply a mid-range device, but it lacks a lot to be a flagship. My overall rating is a solid 7/10, but it certainly did not make a striking impression on me.

I believe that the quality-to-price ratio is very favorable. The phone is lightweight, has a fairly ergonomic shape, and fits well in the hand; the casing is very aesthetically crafted. The photo quality for this price range is a very significant advantage, and it also has good memory (I have the 512 version). As for the drawbacks, the gray notification style on the lock screen is certainly annoying, unaesthetic, and even ugly, and it cannot be changed. Personally, I value aesthetics and love the wide range of possibilities offered by device personalization. I love changing wallpapers and notification bubble colors, so I hope Realme will change this soon and make it possible to adjust the notification color settings. Furthermore, regarding the color quality on the display, I also noticed some noise that affects the clarity and purity of the screen. Overall, it is worth purchasing, especially if someone has a limited budget.

In two words: it is great. Almost everything about it suits me. The screen responds excellently to touch, colors are well-reproduced, and the stereo speakers perform well. The battery lasts 2-2,5 days on a single charge (my Motorola Edge 30 was able to reach a maximum of one day). The main and telephoto cameras take excellent photos in my opinion (I compared them directly with the OP 11 and saw no difference). The overlay does not slow down the system and is simultaneously rich in features. Snap 7s is not an exceptionally fast processor, but that does not bother me. My only complaints would be the curved screen (I have never been a fan of this solution) and the lack of wireless charging even at 5W, but one cannot have everything at this price. Generally, I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Negative opinion

Well then. I had the phone for a little over a year when the problems began. 1. First, the side button broke; it first started behaving erratically and doing whatever it wanted, and then it completely stopped working. When I went to the store where I bought it, the store informed me that the complaint process could take up to a month and a half (!), so I would be without a smartphone for that long. 2. I managed to use the phone without that button for the next month somehow, but after that time, huge battery problems started, where the phone would not even last a single day. 3. The camera in automatic mode is very poor, the software overexposes every photo, it cannot be compared to, for example, the iPhone 15. My overall rating is about 3/10, never again Chinese brands.

Neutral opinion

Waldi

I was misled by all those YouTubers who praised this smartphone, especially the camera. In my opinion, the camera is average and does not differ significantly from cheaper mid-range devices, perhaps only with the exception of the telephoto lens. The white balance is very inconsistent, especially in the evening, and compared to the Realme 7 Pro, the photos appear worse (that is the comparison I have). The screen is nice with good colors, the speakers play quite loudly and even have some depth, everything else works exactly like mid-range smartphones, even the cheaper ones. Can I recommend it? No, I will not buy any Realme device again, but if someone is a fan of the brand, they are welcome to do so.
