NVIDIA debuting - not so long ago – with a hit in the mobile market solutions, announces quad-core Tegra 4 units. The next generation of the manufacturer’s processors codenamed Wayne is to be the fastest on the market.
You rather won’t hear anything new. All improvements concern this, what was also improved in the older units. It will be even better, faster and more cost-effective. 72-core GPU will increase 6 times the performance compared to the previous GPU generation. Processors will cooperate with the LTE modem (Icera i500 chipset), and a special second-generation battery saver core will be protecting the battery when we do not play the latest games and the system will not be forced to work to the limit. NVIDIA promises lower energy consumption by 45% compared to Tegra 3 and 14 hours of video playback in HD.
4 cores in NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor base on the ARM Cortex-A15, and the overall performance of the next generation will be 2.6 times higher than in the Tegra 3 generation. Photographers should be glad that Computational Photography Architecture implemented in the new processors will allow for shooting photos smoother and more efficient operation of such options as serial images and HDR. Pictures in motion will get perhaps a new dimension.
A new generation of NVIDIA processors is expected to debut with Project Shield - something that looks like a miniature game console based on Android. The idea is not new, because you can find similar ones in Kickstarter (even famous: Ouya), as well as in the Chinese online stores. This what you can see, however, in the manufacturer’s infographics looks relatively innovative combination of a tablet with a controller, an audio system with bass reflex speakers and a battery, which is to stand 5-10 hours of playing.

It remains only to wait a bit for our favorite apps that take advantage of the potential offered by the new processors, and check reports of the first users of the Nvidia open mini-console. Press conference in full in English, can be viewed here. And more details on the NVIDIA console, here.
