Have you ever heard about the Lytro camera? Briefly describing it allows to change the image sharpness after taking a picture, when the file is saved. Bloomberg reports that Nokia wants to implement a similar technology into its smartphones.

The Finnish company has a rich tradition when it comes to innovative solutions in mobile photography. Let us list even Nokia 808 Pure View or stabilized camera in Lumia 920... It seems that Nokia's engineers have not said the last word. Finns want to invest in cooperation with California company Pelican Imaging, which is a start-up developing their own concept of a digital camera working similarly as the Lytro.
The Pelican Imaging idea involves using a team of small cameras, recording the image so that it can later focus anywhere in the photo. This may sound a little strange, but imagine that taking a picture you can get out of it quite a few different shots. In one you set focus on the detail of the foreground, in the other one – on the background, with fuzzy details closer to the viewer.
Nokia is not able to independently develop such complex technology, so it asked the company that has already implemented such a study – explains Bloomberg Bo Ilsø from Nokia Growth Partners. Nokia obviously cares to be perceived not only as a leading manufacturer of smartphones with Windows, but also as the creator of the best mobile photographers...
