
The Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo announced the release of a special version of the Xperia feat. Hatsune Miku (SO-04E) from Sony. The smartphone is based on the model Xperia A shown at the DoCoMo's summer conference.
As a preliminary point: Hatsune Miku is a fictional character, one of the virtual singers from Japanese singing synthesizer Vocaloid from Yamaha. Currently, the software engine is used by Crypton Future Media. Miku was createded in August 2007 and has gained tremendous sympathy of not only artists and composers, but also the audience in Japan. Her voice was created thanks to a vocal of Saki Fujita, the actress lending voice in anime productions.

The Xperia A smartphone was shown by NTT DoCoMo at the traditional press conference where the operator introduced the summer offer for 2013. Based on this model Xperia feat. Hatsune Miku is to appear in NTT DoCoMo X1 in September, in a limited edition consisting of 39 thousand copies. The operator will accept orders from late August to early September. If there will be more buyers than copies available, the operator will choose future owners by drawing of lots.
Xperia feat. Hatsune Miku will be different from the basic version of the smartphone,in the themed decoration on the back of the case, and the presence of subjects including wallpapers, screensavers, sounds, and a special widget for listening to Miku songs. Together with the device buyers will be able to choose the BT-enabled NFC handset in colour preferred by the Japanese virtual singer.
In late July, there is to begin the campaign inducing to send copyright graphics and personal productions based on the Vocaloid program, which will be later available for all smartphone users.
