Beats Audio logo invariably reminds us of HTC smartphones. This may change, however, because the owners of Beats Electronics want to finish over a two-year collaboration with the Taiwanese phone maker - Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the American newspaper, Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young (better known as Dr. Dre) want to buy from HTC shares in Beats Electronics, which remain in the hands of the Taiwanese. HTC currently has a 25% stake in Beats, but originally had 50.1%. In August 2011, HTC bought those shares for $ 300 million, so it has the exclusive right to use Beats Audio technology in its smartphones. Shortly thereafter there came the financial troubles and HTC - in the search for savings and cash - resold half of the shares in Beats. Now Iovine and Dr. Dre want to buy the rest, to look for a new investor and access to other markets, such as car audio.

For now, however, HTC still can implement and use technology and Beats logo in their phones, but no one looks forward to further developing of this cooperation. The marriage with HTC helped to promote Beats Electronics brand, but its founders clearly recognized that cooperation has stalled, and the fact that HTC is still struggling with financial problems negates the chances of development, making that the Taiwanese may be more likely to get rid of the rest of its shares. And although none of the parties referred to the revelations published by the Wall Street Journal, we can be pretty sure that the known logo will disappear soon from HTC and will appear on more devices in other segments of the electronics market. Do you regret? I'd rather not...
