LG Electronics, and actually one of its departments making matrix displays, crossed another border. Displays with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels for smartphones and tablets have become a reality.
LG Electronics has announced its readiness to manufacture a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. At the moment, in any available mass mobile device there are no displays with similar characteristics. LG calls a display with a pixel density at 538 ppi as Quad HD, which is so reasonable, because it offers a total of four times more than the display with HD resolution (720x1280).

The new LG displays are created in the AH-IPS technology based on LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-Silicon) and may offer a brightness of 430 nits with a very thin matrix (about 1.2 mm). The presented display is thinner than the one installed in LG G2.

The manufacturer hasn't given the date of implementation of the displays into production, let alone the release date of the first smartphone with Quad HD display, but we should not expect it in stores earlier than in a year to two years. Let's hope that the rapid implementation proves to be economically viable, but remember that not so long ago displays with a full HD resolution made their debut.
