A few days ago I wrote about the leaks on a compact variety ASUS PadFone... and today I can introduce it officially. ASUS PadFone Mini has just been unveiled in Taiwan.
In line with expectations and previous rumours, the new model is a hybrid of a 4.3-inch smartphone with a 7-inch tablet. As in the previous PadFons, the heart of the device is a mobile, which could operate completely autonomously. The tablet part is really a docking station for a smartphone, equipped with a larger screen (with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels) and an extra battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh. The phone itself is powered by a battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh and has a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon MSM8226 processor, supported by a gigabyte of RAM. The screen has a resolution of 960x540 mobile pixels, and runs Android 4.3. It is worth noting that part of the phone has yet memory of 16 GB with a microSD slot, and two connectors for SIM cards. The device also features an 8-megapixel camera with the option of serial shots and improved night mode.
ASUS PadFone Mini is expected to cost approximately $ 400. At the beginning it will appear in China, Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia. A little later, it is to hit the U.S. and Europe.
