American newspaper The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple plans to launch this year two iPhone models with larger screens than ever before. The manufacturer obviously has not commented on these reports, although the newspaper relies on fairly reliable evidence.
According to the WSJ the argument for that Apple has increased the size of its smartphone is the fact that the mobile segment with large screens is growing very rapidly and it is easily to achieve success in this field. The Journal cites also the example of Samsung - which being the most serious competitor to Apple in the field of large mobiles copes perfectly. Apple will also take into account the high popularity of models with large screens on the Chinese market - that is one of the most important in the world.
According to the information that WSJ journalists gathered, Apple is expected to show a model with a screen larger than 4.5 inches, and the second model with a diagonal of more than 5 inches. California company is also to abandon experimenting with plastic housings and offer two new mobile phones in metal bodies, similar to the current model. It is further known that none of this year's iPhones receive a flexible display... And when the launch? According to the WSJ, it will be held in the second half of the year. It is not known whether both models will debut at the same time. A smaller version, with a screen between 4.5 and 5 inches is reportedly being prepared for mass production, and the large, over 5-inch iPhone is still in the testing phase. Is the market ready for a big iPhone? On the one hand, the sales results show clearly that, yes. On the other - one of the strengths of the existing models were - at least in my opinion - more convenience and a compact size. I'm not sure if I need a bigger iPhone...
