In a few days, on February 24 at 8PM our time Samsung is to showcase to the world its new flagship, namely Galaxy S5. According to recent rumours, the phone is to be waterproof and come with a screen density of over 550 ppi. I decided to gather the current rumours...
Rumours of a waterproof housing first appeared in Korea, and later found (see above) confirmation in the German-speaking site of the O2 network. The housing is to be made of polycarbonate connected to the aluminium and magnesium alloy. We cannot exclude two versions of the cover - the metal one and the cheaper plastic - like the recent iPhones. Further information say that the phone display will measure 5.2 inches and have a resolution of 1440x2560, which will give a density factor of 560 ppi. For comparison, iPhone 5S has only 326, while HTC One - 446 ppi. There were also rumours that Galaxy S5 will also have a version with a screen with a slightly lower resolution - 1080x1920 px. A lot is said about the retina or fingerprint scanner - I suspect that if any of them will go to SGS5 , it will be a plain fingerprint sensor. For eye scan probably it's still too early...
A lot of it is also said about the camera. It is to have a 16- or 21-megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization. Certainly it will have the 4K video recording capabilities. It will be accompanied by a 2-megapixel front camera. SGS5 will also receive at least 3 GB of RAM, although it is said also about 4 GB. Further differences appear when we come to the processors. In the benchmarks, there are two models: the Snapdragon 800 and octa-core Exynos 5422. The latter, interestingly, appeared in a pair with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM... The phone is powered with a very impressive battery with a capacity of 2900 mAh. As for the system, everything is already clear: it will be Android 4.4 KitKat with a new graphical user interface.
