It is possible that soon - in line with the assumptions – we'll say goodbye to roaming charges. The European Parliament will vote to end roaming charges, extending the scope of consumer rights and facilitate the development of better telecommunications services.
The abolition of roaming charges will make all the European Union countries will be able to use the phone without incurring additional costs. UP in a special message informs that today there was a vote of the European Parliament on the abolition of roaming charges till Christmas 2015 as part of a broader vote on support for the Commission proposal for a Regulation on the single telecoms market. EU Member States will now continue the review of the Regulation and the Commission expects the final agreement on this issue by the end of 2014.
European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes said: "In 2010 I promised to end roaming charges by the end of 2015, and now we are one step away from achieving that result (...) We should know what we are buying, we should not be ripped-off, and we should have the opportunity to change our mind. Companies should have the chance to serve all of us, and this regulation makes it easier for them to do that. It’s win-win".
