Caterpillar best known for the production of heavy construction equipment, announced the new smartphone CAT B15Q. This model is not actually completely new – it is in fact a development of the phone Cat B15 presented in 2013.
Mobiles branded with CAT logo, of course, are not created on the same production lines as excavators and loaders – they are produced at the request of CAT by Bullitt Mobile - but they can boast a similar strength as construction equipment. Both the predecessor - CAT B15 and the new B15Q hold a compliance with the standards of IP57 and MIL SPEC 810F. It's dustproof, waterproof and drop proof from 1.8m. Compared to B15, being shown during the last two edition of the MWC the appearance has hardly changed . We still deal with the phone closed in a rubber- metal housing with bumpers, bolted with solid screws. The phone still has a 4-inch 480x800 pixels display covered with Gorilla Glass 2 and a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording. The smartphone still connects you with the world through 3G networks, provides good voice quality thanks to two microphones and noise reduction arrangement and still has only 4 GB of memory - fortunately accompanied by a microSD slot up to 64 GB.

What has been changed (and has been distinguished with the letter Q in the name) is the processor. In place of the dual-core appears the quad-core Media Tek clocked at 1.3 GHz. RAM is still 1 GB, but the chance of a noticeable performance improvement comes with the newer system. Now this is Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone powers a battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh, and the functionality improves the touch panel, which can be operated with gloved or wet hands. He phone dimensions are 125x69,5x14,95 mm and weights - 170 g.
CAT B15Q is to appear on sale in the summer. Unfortunately, we do not know its price.
