On April 18th Amazon, e-commerce giant, unveiled its first smartphone: Amazon Fire Phone. The smartphone is distinguished not only by its top, rich specifications, but also by an interesting package of additional services implemented in the software.
But let us start from the phone itself. At first it was mentioned a quad-core 2.2 GHz (most probably Snapdragon 800) and a 2 GB of RAM and an extraordinary clarity of 4.7-inch HD IPS display in a bright light (590 nits). An important part of the specification is the 13-megapixel camera with an optical image stabilization and f/2.0 lens. The smartphone received an interesting housing - for its construction there were used both Gorilla Glass 3 as well as rubber and metal. Amazon’s phone has also stereo speakers and headphones with a tangle-free cable. The smartphone has received an interesting, 3D interface. It looks very impressive...

The “Firefly” function looks very interesting. A special application in connection with the camera can recognize various objects in our environment - and look them up in a store. Of course, the Amazon store... Firefly recognizes logos, letters, numbers, barcodes or QR codes - in fact, every image that the camera will capture. Firefly is also able to recognize sounds – so that we could easily buy a music album that we are currently listening to in Amazon… In the same way Firefly is also able to recognize movies or images.

Smartphone uses Qualcomm RF360 communications module - which means that it can work virtually anywhere in the world. It supports nine LTE bands, four GSM bands and five UMTS bands, and in addition 802.11ac Wi-Fi plus NFC and Bluetooth.
It is high time to present the most interesting feature: controlling your phone using the face recognition software. One of the problems is a typical narrow-angled cameras placed around the screen. Amazon has applied several of them, which helped to achieve a much wider field of view. Thanks to four cameras, even an accidental covering of one or two of them will not cause any problems with using the phone. Each camera has an infrared emitter, so they can work in the dark. Face recognition will also serve to protect data on the phone. The system is intelligent, able for example to distinguish a true face from its image in the picture. A set of four cameras connected with the 3D interface is called "Dynamic Perspective".

Amazon will publish the SDK for Firefly and for the "Dynamic Perspective", which will allow third parties to create applications using company’s pioneer solution. Now it is time for the most important thing: the price. Amazon Fire Phone smartphone will cost $199 with a two-year contract in AT&T network. We are talking of course about the U.S. market. For now Amazon’s smartphone will be available only in the USA - exclusively at AT&T. Presale starts today and it will be delivered after July 25. It will be possible to pay for the phone in installments - $27 a month. Amazon now offers the phone with a 32GB of ROM and a year-free subscription to Amazon Prime.
