During the I/O conference, Google unveiled a new installment of Android. The system - a bit surprising - is called... L. Breaking with the current, "confectionery" nomenclature can be understood as the beginning of a whole new chapter in the history of Google. Is there any basis for this?
Android L received a new interface called "Material Design". According to the current fashion, the graphics is flat, straight, with soft colours. In the case of some components there was used, however, a treatment with an animated shadow, so that they seem to swim against the rest of the graphics. Moreover, there were changed notifications. They are no longer in the drop-down bar, but they appear directly on the lock screen.

Pushing them aside – we remove a notification or go to the respective application. In the interface, there is also a pop-up micro window of the phone. If we use the application, an incoming call will not mask the entire screen with a dialer – a call information appears in a pop-up window, just like in the LG interface.

The company also introduces Google Fit, which is its own fitness-training platform, and Android for Work - the equivalent of Samsung Knox. This solution will allow to separate the private sphere of the device from the business one.

Moreover, there was improved a search engine, which is more strongly associated with applications. Clicking on a search result straight away opens the appropriate app (eg clicking on the title will take us to the player), and the link will be remembered. The system is to be more versatile and faster. There is support for 64-bit architecture, as well as new algorithms for energy management. Unfortunately, among the announcements, there was no information about the release date of the new system. Hence, we do not know the timetable for the emergence of Android L for each device. The system is to be flexible, compatible with a wide range of devices. There will appear even a variant of Android TV - for smartTV.

At about the same time as Android L, we can expect Android Wear - a version for smart jewellery. This platform will be closely linked with Google Now, and its design will be similar to "Material Design" from the new Android. Android Wear will be constantly synchronized with a smartphone or a tablet, it will also allow for remote management of larger equipment without removing it from a pocket.

Along with Wear Google launches API for developers, but the true discharge of applications on this platform, we can expect in autumn when it will hit a wider number of devices. For now, it only appears in Moto 360, Gear Live, and LG G Watch.
