Microsoft won't abandon Nokia

Published:

After the acquisition of Nokia's mobile division by Microsoft we were wondering under which brand next smartphones will be manufactured. It seems that we won't say goodbye neither to Nokia nor to Lumia. At least according to the latest leaks...

According to evleaks.at service, Microsoft is working on finalizing a contract that would allow it to use the Nokia's logo. Contrary to earlier announcements, the company intends to continue to use it in relation to mobile devices. There will be added only inscription 'by Microsoft ". And although a few months ago Stephen Elop said that the company was looking for a new brand for its phones, and the Nokia sign can only be used for a certain time, everything indicates that the U.S. concern concluded that the world-famous sign is too valuable to part with it.

The company does not have a similar sentiment to its own sub-brand Surface. It has not gained popularity, it's hard to call it a cult one. And although the promotion of the Surface tablets pumped a lot of money, the extension of the Lumia brand also for them - seems to be a reasonable move. I am glad that we will still see the new Lumias from Nokia, although "by Microsoft"...
