From the launch of Galaxy Alpha - the first Samsung phone with metal housing since ages - divide us barely hours. The device is to be presented on August 13, and in the meantime one of the Brazilian sites published the photo advertising Alpha - with a fairly exact specifications of the device.
If we believe the Brazilians word and assume that the poster is authentic, Alpha will not be a mobile with too stringent parameters. It will be a rather average equipment packed in a superlative (as in Samsung's standards) housing. From the specification printed on the banner, we learn that Alpha is to have an octa-core processor with four cores clocked 1.8 GHz and four cores at 1.3 GHz. RAM memory has a capacity of 2 GB, while the built-in ROM - 32 GB. Unfortunately, there is a lack of a microSD card slot, there will be only a nanoSIM slot. The phone is also have a heart rate monitor, a biometric scanner and Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and GLONASS, as well as USB 3.0. There will be LTE service Cat. 4 and two cameras: about 12 and 2.1 megapixels. Everything is to run under Android 4.4.4. A bit weaker looks the battery with a capacity of only 1860 mAh, and the display - 4.7 inches at a resolution of 720p, which is the graphic a bit mysteriously set at 1080x720 pixels. And just this mistake makes me look at the Brazilian leak a bit skeptical...
On the other hand, the phone could be already watched live during the regatta PROyachting in Russia. Local celebrities and race participants could not only admire the banners advertising the Alpha, but the phone itself - as evidenced by several photographs published for a certain time in the service hi-tech mail. Unfortunately, the site with photos disappeared from Russian servers, which may suggest that the presentation was very informal.
