During IFA 2014 in Berlin, Samsung showed, inter alia, models Note 4, Note Edge and Gear VR - a device which - as the manufacturer claims - allows for a total immersion in virtual reality.

Amazingly, at the press conference there was not a word spoken about Samsung Galaxy Alpha. There was a lot on Note 4 and Note Edge.

The latter will only be available only on selected markets. It has a curved, overlapping the right edge of the display. In this way it was possible to increase the resolution of 160 pixels to 1600x2560 pixels. This display is the greatest difference between the basic version and Edge. In addition, there are differnt batteries: 3000 mAh in Edge and 3220 mAh in Note 4.

We will see Note Edge on the shelves in the colours Charcoal Black and Frosted White.

The common specifications of both devices include - depending on the version - Snapdragon 805 (LTE Cat. 6) or Exynos 5433 (LTE Cat. 4), Android 4.4, 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, as well as the S-pen stylus.

The basic version (Note 4) is equipped with a 5.7 inch (143.9mm) Quad HD Super AMOLED (2560 x 1440) display with 515 ppi density.

Applications on this device open in full-screen mode on a split screen or in a floating window. You can freely change the arrangement and size of the windows with the stylus.

Note 4 has a camera which taes - as claimed by representatives of the manufacturer - brighter and sharper images. It has 16 megapixels and a premiere optical stabilization system (Smart Optical Image Stabilizer) that has managed to eliminate the impact of vibration on the quality of the image. Hence, you can safely extend the duration of exposure in tricky lighting conditions. At the front of Note 4 we find the camera with a bright (F1.9) optics, resolution of 3.7 megapixels and the ability to take pictures with the viewing angle up to 120 degrees.

The manufacturer touts that Note 4 is "packed with" new features, such as: Fast Charging feature and Ultra Power Saving Mode. The Galaxy Note 4 comes equipped with multiple microphones and an improved speaker phone for better noise cancellation. A built-in Voice Recorder can record reportedly surround sound.

Note 4 offers the world's first UV sensor in a mobile device.

The device Note 4 will be available - from October 2014 - in the colours of "Charcoal Black", "Frost White", "Bronze Gold" and "Blossom Pink"

A curiosity is Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition. It allows users - the manufacturer claims so - total immersion in mobile virtual reality. You can watch movies on the 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display of Galaxy Note 4. " With the Gear VR Innovator Edition, users can sit in the best seat of a theater, can be on-stage of a performance with full 360 3D video, and can enjoy gaming like it?s never been seen before - inside the stunning worlds where imagination becomes reality "- say representatives of the manufacturer.

Wireless Gear VR has been created from soft, flexible cushioning and lightweight materials.
