The Chinese company Oppo has become known thanks to unconventional solutions related to the placement of cameras in smartphones. After the rotating segment of the camera, it's time for something more crazy: the camera hidden in the housing!
This solution is reportedly to appear in the new model Oppo N3. So at least suggest renders that leaked to the network. And although as usually, I suggest not fully believing leaks, the graphics clearly shows that "something's up." I suspect that the retractable camera will not appear in the nearest model - but that does not mean that the manufacturer does not refine this concept and apply it later.
The idea seems to be good: a retractable camera will always have clean and not scratched lens, the housing will be able to have a more interesting styling, and the segment hidden in a slot similar to SIM will be movable. This results from the graphics showing the camera of Oppo N3. The downside of such a camera mount will be the need to find extra space inside the case. I also have serious concerns about the sustainability of the mechanism, especially elastic bands connecting the motherboard from camera module. I hope, however, that Oppo knows what it's doing and takes into account all aspects of construction. And although I'm not sure if I would have a phone with a retractable camera, I find the Oppo idea very interesting and worthy presenting.
