Proteus: a flexible display from Kyocera

Kyocera is working on a flexible display Proteus. In contrast to the solutions already offered by several companies, the Kyocera screen will not be protected with additional glass and thus - it can be formed as needed.

Kyocera's engineers adopted out to create the display which is not deviating with parameters from the classic screens, but allowing to change the shape, depending on the needs of the phone user. The idea is to be able to use the phone in both the classical, flat form and to transform it into a smartwatch or simply mounted it on the handlebars - in the form of a roll. For now, the screen is at a stage of an advanced prototype and it undergoes endurance and operational tests. If it turns out that they came out successfully, Proteus has a chance to get to mass production. Unfortunately, Kyocera does not inform what it intends to do with the battery... But if we believe in the photographs and accept that we see in it a working phone, we recognize that other elements of the smartphone were also bend - and not only once ...
