John Sculley, the former head of Apple, who became famous some years ago with the removal of Steve Jobs from his own company, returns to the business associated with the electronics. He just announced his involvement in the birth of a new brand of phones: Obi Mobiles.
Sculley announces that Obi Mobiles will produce inexpensive smartphones with an interesting design and good performance. The company has its headquartered in Singapore and soon intends to strongly compete with Xiaomi or Lenovo. The plans are ambitious: we are talking about phones costing between 200 and 700 dollars, dedicated to a younger clientele. John Sculley says that he targets the buyers of the age group 13 to 24 years old who would like to have the iPhone, but they cannot afford it. Obi Mobiles is going to give them an alternative in the form of an equally stylish, fashionable, but much cheaper device. The company operates so far in India and the Middle East, but in November it plans to enter Asian markets, while at the beginning of next year - to Europe and Latin America.
