According to reliable sources from Korea, at the end of January we should see the first smartphone based on Samsung's Tizen system. The Z1 model is expected to debut on January 18 in India, in February it will be in China, and by the middle of the year it should be available in Korea and some other countries.
Samsung Z1 is an unsophisticated structure designed primarily to emerging markets. The phone will be quite cheap (we're talking about the price of approx. $ 90), and thus, it does not offer too impressive capabilities. Z1 is based on a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, supported by 512 MB of RAM. The system interface will appear on the 4-inch screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, and photos can be taken with a 3.2 megapixel camera or possibly a front VGA webcam. The phone will support 3G in Dual-SIM, but it will not have any modern solutions. It is a pity, because so poor specification may spoil the start of the new platform. Agreed - the phone will be cheap - but Tizen should also get support from more powerful or even more stylish model, which "would pull" the sale of the modest, base model. I'm afraid that without a decent "locomotive" Tizen will share the fate of Bada - but its death will be much faster...
