On the last day of the MWC fair I met a Samurai. Using persuasion and katana, he took me to the stand of the Freetel company and showed an admirable smartphone.
The phone - as you've probably guessed - is called Samurai and seduces the eye with a traditional Japanese pattern on black or red, glossy housing. Unfortunately, Freetel brought to the MWC pre-production models and I wasn't able to touch the wonder. I could assess the quality only through a glass display case protecting the flagship model. The Samurai did not show up the phone even after my requests, but he told me a few words about the company and its plans. Freetel is a Japanese B-brand. The company creates a design of a phone, and gives it to the Chinese production. Thanks to this a device can be offered – here I quote the Samurai - "about half the price of the S… company flagships". And the specification? Nice, but no revelations. A 5.5-inch FullHD display, an octa-core processor plus 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flashROM. The set of 13- and 8-megapixel cameras and a 2300 mAh battery. All in a very slim design. When asked about the quality, the Samurai put his hand on the hilt of the katana and announced that Japanese specialists with extensive experience in the industry watch over it. I believed at the word and went to watch the rest of the offer.

The next model, which hit my eyes, was another "warrior" - Ninja. I drew attention to it, since the appearance of the front panel immediately reminded me of the HTC phones. You can see some similarity, but let's not dramatize: the device is really neatly made. It uses Windows, has a 64-bit, quad-core processor, a 5-inch HD screen and an 8-megapixel camera. There is 8 GB of memory, a gigabyte of RAM and a battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh.

Android models of Freetel are called Priori. In this family there is Priori 3 with Android 5.0, a 64-bit quad-core system and a battery with a capacity of 1700 mAh. The smartphone has a size of 4.5 inches, has eight and two megapixels cameras, and a gigabyte of RAM. The Priori 2 LTE phone, running on Android 4.2, has actually the same specifications, but also supports LTE network.

Freetel also has in its plans a phone besed on AndroidOne platform and the mid-range Black Knight model. Unfortunately, the model AndroidOne appeared at the stand in the form of a dummy, without even a rudimentary specification. The representatives could not say much about it as well. In the case of Black Knight the specification was available, but I could only see the prospectus of the phone. As a compensation, I learned that Freetel starts selling in Europe. What's more - the company will move production of the flagship models to Japan - so that we can speak of a true Japanese quality.
