Soon, there will appear on the market an interesting design. The Dutch company Fairphone announced a smartphone with a modular design. Its general assumptions, we can associate with Project Ara, but the design will be somewhat different.
The Dutch built a phone locked in a classic, modest housing. Its advantage will be simplicity of the design and ease of repair and replacement of individual components. The housing and the interior of the phone will form one whole and the individual modules are connected to the main body by means of pins and screws.
The company will allow the purchase and an independent exchange of most elements, including even the processor. The phone will have a 5-inch full HD screen with Gorilla Glass 3. It will operate the LTE network and DualSIM mode, it will also receive a microSD card slot. The initial configuration includes Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM, but later you will be able to replace these elements with other, similarly as the internal memory.
The phone will run under Android 5.1., But the company Fairphone announced the release of source code software, which allows you to create custom-ROMs.
The price of Fairphone 2 is expected to be approx. 525 euro, while the price of additional components hasn't been specified.
