Information is and sensational, and quite sure. It was handed by the service specializing in reports on Nokia, citing the statement of one of the presidents of Nokia - Rajeev Suri. Back in Barcelona, everyone denied that the Finns will return to the production of smartphones.
- Actually, rightly so, because the production itself is likely to be addressed by Foxconn after the end of the contract with Microsoft, which is in force with Nokia until 2016. At the moment it is Foxconn that is engaged in the production of the tablet Nokia N1 designed by Nokia Technologies, which is very popular in China, where it has reportedly become the best Android tablet.
The first markets where Nokia is to launch smartphones with Android will be India and China. Then it comes the turn for selected European countries. At the end of the year there is planned an advertising campaign, as well as the opening of the official website.
Despite the large sympathy for Nokia phones I am rather cautious. The transfer of the production to China is an understandable step, but it also raises fears that Nokia, which a product design and an engineering infrastructure was destroyed during the presidency of Stephen Elop, will succumb to the temptation to cut costs significantly and, instead of designing and manufacturing their own smartphones, will address the cloning of precast of the large Chinese manufacturers. I wish I was wrong.
