Microsoft does not abandon the production of smartphones - that's for sure. What's more, the company is working on at least two new models from the top shelf.
This was confirmed by Terry Myerson, the vice president of mobile devices. During the conference Worldwide Partner Conference 2015 in Orlando he announced that the new models will be released later this year. When this happens - so far we are not sure. It is possible that this will happen on September 4. Microsoft announced for this day a conference under the slogan "Windows 10 Lights Up New Devices". There are no clear indications that the company's conference at the IFA will be linked to the new Lumias, but at the same time - we have no grounds to believe that the new smartphones are not even mentioned during it. Everything will become clear in a few weeks...
What can we expect from the new Microsoft phones? These will likely be Lumia 940 and 940 XL. Both phones will receive 3 GB of RAM and up to 32 GB of built-in memory on flashROM, which will be expandable with a microSD card up to 128 GB. Both smart phones will also have the same set of cameras: 5 megapixel camera at the front and 20 megapixel at the rear, and the rear camera will have a triple LED flash. It is not excluded that and the front camera can receive a flash - but that's just my wishful thinking...
The smartphones are to differ with processors, batteries and - as it is already apparent from their names - screens. Lumia 940 will have Snapdragon 808, a 5.2-inch screen with a FullHD resolution and a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh, while Lumia 940 XL will receive Snapdragon 810, a 3300 mAh battery and an impressive 5.7-inch screen with a QHD resolution, or 2560x1440 pixels. Both models will debut with Windows 10 on board - but whether it will happen during the IFA, we will probably get to know in a while.
