A little over a month ago I wrote about a modular phone from the Dutch company Fairphone. Today we know the date of placing it for sale, as well as the exact price.
Fairphone 2 will be a phone with a removable housing and a design enabling easy replacement of individual modules. It will not be as easy as in the case of Project Ara, but the developers of Fairphone ensure that even the replacement of the processor will not be a problem for a user who can handle a screwdriver. Some elements can be removed and replaced without using tools, but some of them have to be unscrewed from the body, including the motherboard and the display. This is to ensure a greater stability of the structure.
The standard configuration includes a 5-inch screen with a FullHD resolution and a 2.25 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which could be later replaced for a newer one. Additionally as a standard we will receive 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and 8 and 2-megapixel photographic cameras. These elements could also be replaced. The smartphone has battery with a capacity of 2420 mAh, of course, also removable.

Fairphone 2 will cost 529.38 euro and its delivery will begin in November. The first batch is 15 thousand units, and the unit can now be booked on the manufacturer's website. However, the prices of additional, interchangeable modules of that device haven't been given yet.
