The Oukitel company started the pre-sale of its dual screen smartphone, U6. This phone stands out with an additional e-ink display, mounted on the rear wall.
Oukitel U6 received a slim casing with a metal frame and two glass panes, protecting the front 5-inch HD screen and the rear e-ink 4.5-inch qHD display - that is 540x960 pixels (not to be confused with QHD). An additional screen can be used simply as an e-book reader, but it also has the ability to display additional information - eg. notifications. It is also possible to keep on it the information we need (eg. QR, or a map) in case when we run out of energy from the battery. The image on the screen will not disappear even if the phone is completely discharged. The e-ink consumes the power only when the image changes. When the image is steady, it remains visible on the screen, though this does not need electricity. In the same way, we can use the extra display to decorate the phone – there can be visible just some pattern...
In addition to the unusual extra screen, Oukitel U6 is actually an ordinary smartphone. It supports LTE network and the DualSIM mode, and its heart is a quad-core MT6735M processor. An interesting complement of the capabilities of the phone is an infrared transmitter, which could replace some remote controls to AV equipment and other household appliances - gates or air conditioning. Oukitel U6 uses Android 5.1 Lollipop and in pre-sale costs the equivalent of $ 240.
