The American startup called Light prophesies the end of the era of digital SLR cameras. The company has created and intends to produce a mobile camera, which - according to its creators - will replace and take market of DSLR Cameras.

The device is called Light L16 because it is referred as a 16-in-1 camera. Why? A complete camera creates 16 photographic modules, that is really 16 digital mini-cameras. Light L16 has five lenses with equivalent focal length of 35 mm, the five - 70 mm and another six with lens of 150 mm. The entire module can therefore use the optical zoom range of 35-150 mm. When creating a single shot there works 10 modules, depending on the selected focal length. They allow you to get a picture with a resolution up to 52 megapixels, while at the same time, we can change the point and the depth of a field after the execution of the shot. The camera is complemented by WiFi module and dual-LED flash, and the whole thing runs on Android. At the moment the module itself has the size of a typical smartphone, but the manufacturer is already working on its miniaturization, so that it could be mounted in a phone without drastically enlarging its housing.

For now, buyers can order Light L16 camera (in a separate enclosure, without a phone) for $ 1,299, with a deposit of $ 199, and the rest is to be paid upon the delivery of the device. After November 6th, unfortunately, the price will rise - to $ 1,699. First deliveries are scheduled for the middle of next year. A little later, we can expect the first smartphones with a built-in camera Light L16 - its creators have established cooperation with the Chinese Foxconn. At the moment there are no photos taken with the camera at full resolution - the manufacturer has published only a few of compressed samples. Until then, it is difficult to assess whether L16 Light can actually threaten DSLR. I sincerely doubt it, but who knows. For now we can only be sure that mobile devices will be getting better - but it's obvious...
