MWC 2016: Alcatel with a new logo and new smartphones

In a press release sent to the media, the representatives of the manufacturer wrote that Alcatel "decided it was the right time to launch the new branding. This change is a response to the needs of the main target group - generation millenials. ALCATEL is simplifying: simplifying its name, simplifying thier message and streamlining their devices." The refreshed brand, directs his attention to the students, youth, young professionals and young parents.

At the beginning of the most important - the flagship, already the fourth series of Idol smartphones. The flagship was built in two variants. The more powerful model in the new pair is Alcatel Idol 4S.

This phone comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display and the octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor clocked at 1.8 + 1.4 GHz aided by 3 GB of RAM. The device has expandable memory of 32 GB (a microSD card of up to 512 GB) and a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. The phone also has a 16-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Alcatel Idol 4S can handle two SIM cards in dual stand-by mode, there are also LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Wi-Fi and support for VoLTE. The housing dimensions are 153,9x75,4x6,99 mm and the weight of the phone is 149 grams.

Alcatel Idol 4 is slightly weaker and smaller. It has a 5.2-inch IPS FullHD display and the octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor clocked at 1.7 + 1.2 GHz.

The function, which the manufacturer boasts the most is called "Boom Key". – It boosts the quality of everything from music and photos, the mobile gaming - said Dan Dery, CMO at Alcatel. "Boom Key":

• Instantly takes photos on standby mode pressing and holding the button puts the camera into burst mode to take photos in quick succession.
• Artistically shuffles the photos in the gallery for instant sharing as a photo collage or a short slideshow.
• Generates immediate, surprising effects in existing videos, such as replaying the previous one second of the video three times, or changing the playback speed. When a user is recording a video, pressing the Boom Key will immediately broadcast the video live.
• Conceived by ALCATEL and creatively engineered by Waves, the audio experience is automatically optimized across all media with simply one touch. The bass, loudness and clarity of the sound is enhanced, enriching the whole user experience.
• Asphalt fans will love how the Boom Key amps up their race by releasing the Nitro and boosting the car speed. It also boosts the audio experience by increasing the volume and adding spatial sound reproduction.
• Creates a more intense 3D effect (parallax UI effect) for the launcher and a stunning, live weather display as part of the homescreen.

  The smartphone will be available with two versions of memory: 2 or 3 GB. Moreover, it will have an internal memory of 16 GB, with the possibility of expanding with a microSD card of another 512 GB. Similarly, as in the mentioned larger model, we will find in this phone VoLTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-SIM.

  The device is smaller and lighter (147x72,5x7,1 mm; 130 g), thus having a weaker battery - 2610 mAh. This model will be cheaper, that is why the cameras will be somewhat simpler: 13 megapixel rear and 8 at the front.

  The main cameras in both new Idols will be equipped with a digital image stabilization, and two-color LED flashes, while the front cameras will get lenses with an angle of view of 84 degrees. Both models will use the Android 6.0.

  Alcatel announced also today its new 2-in-1 tablet, called Plus 10. The device - as it is clear from the name - uses Windows 10 and has a quad-core processor and IPS screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The device can be used as a tablet, but when you connect the keyboard it will transform it into a neat laptop. Interestingly, a detached keyboard can work independently as a Wi-Fi access point.

  In total, Plus 10 allows you to use not only Wi-Fi, but the LTE network. The device supplies a battery with a capacity of 8410 mAh. Equipment of Alcatel Plus 10 supplement: 32 GB of memory and two cameras.
