Huawei announced a strategic partnership with Leica. Companies join forces to move mobile photography to a whole new level.
It can be done. Huawei's phones take better and better photographs, and the legendary Leica can bring a lot to their development. The company is known for its excellent optical solutions, it has therefore appropriate knowledge and facilities to develop miniature cameras to phone.
Previously Leica worked with Panasonic. The fruit of this cooperation were very decent cameras, but unfortunately those bearing the logo Leica were quite expensive. Will it be the same in case of Huawei? On the home market, anything can happen. The Chinese love the luxury brand - and Leica is such a brand. They are willing to pay for the famous logo, but in Europe it may be different. If companies develop a truly sensational camera to mobiles, the market should respond enthusiastically, provided that the final product will have a reasonably calculated price. For now, however, we do not know when we see the fruits of cooperation announced yesterday...
