Nokia will work closely with Xiaomi

Published:

A few hours after the first rumours about Nokia's (or indeed HMD Global) cooperation with Xiaomi appeared, Nokia published the official news. Companies will exchange their patents.

To start with some explanation. The first rumours of Xiaomi's collaboration with Nokia were about smartphones - specifically the use of the Xiaomi Surge S1 processor in one of the upcoming smartphones. In this case, of course, it was about the smartphones manufactured by HMD Global with the Nokia logo. However, the information that is being published today concerns the "old" part of Nokia, that of the non-mobile phone industry, and the development of Internet technology. The HDM partnership with Nokia, which was mentioned earlier, may, however, be related to the agreement announced today.

Under the agreement, Nokia and Xiaomi form a multi-year business partnership under which companies will share their patents. Companies will work together to develop solutions in the area of network infrastructure, data centers, and the Internet of Things, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
