Today Alcatel Idol 5 and Alcatel Idol 5S, and a 5.5-inch Alcatel A7 are also debuting at the Alcatel press conference in Berlin.
Alcatel Idol 5 and Alcatel Idol 5S are smartphones in which metal meets glass. This aesthetically pleasing combination has been used in two very similar designs with a 5.2-inch display, which however, differ in their technical specifications.
Alcatel Idol 5 - MediaTek and interpolation cameras
Alcatel Idol 5 with LTP FHD glass-shielded Dragontrail is based on the MediaTek 6753 processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of user memory with 128 GB of expandable memory. The smartphone has two cameras: 13-megapixel rear-facing, PDAF, 5-part lens, f/2.0 aperture and two-colour LED flash - and a 5 megapixel front lens, f/2.4 aperture and wide-angle lens. The image size is programmatically interpolated. In the case of the back camera up to 16 Mpx, and the front - up to 8 Mpx.

Powered by a 2800 mAh battery, Alcatel Idol 5 supports LTE networks with 150 Mbit/s download. Among local data exchange interfaces we find WiFi 2.4 GHz, OTG USB, BT 4.2. We will use a nano-SIM card in the smartphone. The 1.2 W external speaker is powered by the AW8738 amplifier. - And since we are with audio capabilities, it is worth mentioning also about FM radio and HD Voice support.

Certainly it’s not the only hardware version of the Alcatel Idol 5 smartphone - there is a very high probability that dual-SIM version will be available, although we do not have the official information yet.
Alcatel Idol 5S - fast charging and stereo sound
The Smartphone features an FHD IPS display that is protected by Corning Gorilla glass. The design uses MediaTek Helio P20 with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash memory with 256 GB expandability. Alcatel Idol 5S has two cameras; main with 12 megapixel camera (6-part lens, f / 2.0, dual colour LED flash) and front - 8 megapixel (f / 2.0).

The 2850mAh battery is responsible for powering the system to provide 18 hours of talk time on 2G and 3G networks and 15 hours of talk time on 4G networks. An additional advantage is fast charging. Among local interfaces we find WiFi 2.4 and 5 GHz, USB-C 2.0 with OTG, BT 4.2. The flagship offers stereo sound thanks to two 2x 3.6W external speakers and allows you to listen to FM radio.

The Alcatel Idol 5S smartphone is already in the catalogue, the one that made its debut in the United States with the Snapdragon processor. For this reason, the European version has a factory name: Alcatel Idol 5S 6060X.
Alcatel A7 - 5.5 inch photographic phone with fast LTE
Alcatel A7 has the largest the main camera's image matrix among the models presented. The 16-megapixel 1/3-inch matrix and f / 2.0 aperture are accompanied by two-colour LED flashes, PDAF, HDR and an electronic image stabilization. The front camera has an 8 megapixel sensor, wide angle lens and LED support.

Under the casing there is the 1.5 GHz 8-core MediaTek MT6750T processor supported with 3 GB of RAM. With built-in 32GB flash memory, the user gets around 23GB. A7 supports WiFi but without the 5 GHz frequency, additionally BT 4.2, NFC, USB. LTE in the case of downloading data here at speeds up to 300 Mbit/s.
Colours and availability
Alcatel Idol 5 in Metal Silver and Metal Black colours was priced at 249 euro on European markets. Alcatel Idol 5S will be available in Dark Gray for 399 euro.
