The launch of the new, classic-styled BlackBerry model, BlackBerry KEY2, took place today in New York.

The new model refers quite strongly to its predecessor, BlackBerry KEYone - it has a similar style and design - but of course many changes and upgrades have been introduced. We got to know a lot of information before the launch - but it's worth summing up everything again.

BlackBerry KEY2 uses Android 8.1, but heavily modified. The company focuses on security, so we have in it a DTEK app that protects the phone, an encrypted folder or Privacy Shade - it blocks out everything on your screen except for a small view area that you control, while still letting you interact with the full screen. There was also an additional, programmable key, as well as a shortcut on the side of the panel, or BlackBerry Hub - an aggregator of notifications and news.

BlackBerry KEY2 uses the 8-core Snapdragon processor 660, with Kryo 260 clocked at 2.2+1.8 GHz, supported by 6 GB of RAM. The internal memory has a capacity of 64 GB and the possibility of enlarging with a microSD card, while the interface can be seen on a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1620x1080 pixels (434 ppi) with Gorilla Glass 3. The battery is charged with a 3500 mAh battery with fast QC 3.0 charging.

BlackBerry KEY2 also has, of course, a classic QWERTY keyboard with a fingerprint reader in the space button, also acting as an additional touchpad. The keyboard has been slightly improved, increasing the height of the buttons, and a new shortcuts key - "Speed Key" has been added - they can lead to any application, contact or action on the phone. They can be up to 52! The equipment also includes LTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and FM radio, as well as a minijack and USB-C sockets with OTG mode. In the photographic part, we have an 8 megapixel camera at the front and a dual camera at the back - with 12 Mpx matrixes and lenses with f/1.8 and f/2.6 brightness and a viewing angle of 79.3 and 50 degrees respectively.

BlackBerry KEY2 measures 151,4x71,8x8.5 mm. The price is $ 649.
