We start the IFA fair from visiting Asus. The company presented a number of new notebooks, but we are primarily interested in smartphones. That's why we directed our steps towards the unusual, gaming phone Asus ROG Phone.
Asus ROG Phone is a smartphone which ultimate purpose is mobile gaming. The housing has a cooling system with a steam chamber, which can be additionally supported with the detachable AeroActive module. The overlay cools not only the device but also the user's hands, which is useful for intense gameplay. The cap (and other additional accessories) is connected to an additional port on the side of the housing. The connector also includes a USB-C socket, so you can connect the power supply while playing so that the cable does not interfere with the game.

Of course, there was also a USB-C in a traditional place on the bottom wall. The phone also has a minijack output, which along with the USB-C has been doubled in the AeroActive overlay - so that the headphone cable does not interfere while playing. The phone can be switched to the standard mode of operation to reduce energy consumption - a squeeze of the housing was used, similar to those used in HTC phones. On the sides of the casing there are also three tactile, programmable AirTriggers sensors - two of them have been optimized as left/right triggers, located at the top of the screen during the game in horizontal mode (the third trigger is used in vertical mode). We can program them all activities that would normally require a finger tap on the screen. AirTriggers sensors use ultrasonic technology, so they require only a very gentle touch. The phone also has a system of perceptible physical reactions, such as vibrations. On the back of the phone there is a highlighted ROG logo that offers a whole range of different light modes.

ROG Phone has a 6-inch AMOLED screen with 1 ms response time - for a smoother image. Effects in high-dynamic-range (HDR) technology with a contrast ratio of 10,000: 1 additionally make the game more enjoyable by helping to see the details hidden in the shadows. The heart of the Asus ROG Phone is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clocked up to 2.96 GHz, supported by the Adreno 630 graphics chip, 8 GB of RAM and memory for data - up to 512 GB. In ROG Phone you will also find a fast wireless card, using LTE cat 16 and the latest Gigabit Wi-Fi connections, compliant with the WiGig 802.11ad standard.

Playing is usually associated with intensive energy consumption. That's why the smartphone has a high capacity 4000 mAh battery. The included power supply supports Asus HyperCharge - a direct charging technology that provides more power (up to 20 W). This ensures a shorter charging time with a higher level of security, and also makes the ROG phone cooler when charging.
