Asus ROG Phone 5 - the debut of the gaming monster

Asus today unveiled a series of gaming smartphones, Asus ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. These are uncompromising devices that offer everything that is the best in the world of smartphones today.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 series is in many ways the "best" - but let's try to look at their specifications without emotions... Let's start with the display. This is an AMOLED matrix with a diagonal of 6.78 inches, Full HD+ resolution and an impressive refresh rate - 144 Hz. The high refresh rate of the touch panel of 300 MHz and the low latency in touch control of 24.3 ms go hand in hand with refreshing the image. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and its brightness reaches 1,200 nits.

The heart of the Asusa ROG Phone 5 series smartphones is, of course, the flagship Snapdragon 888, supported by fast LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memory. The operating memory can have a capacity of 8, 12 or even 18 GB, and the internal - 128, 256 or 512 GB. The processor is of course equipped with a special GameCool 5 cooling system. The 3D steam chamber with a modified shape and large graphite plates additionally help in the even heat dissipation from the housing. The improved AirTrigger 5 control system offers up to four separate methods of interacting with the ROG Phone 5. The AeroActive Cooler 5 now comes with two additional physical buttons for a console-like experience. ROG Phone 5 series phones support 10 different motion sensors, allowing players to easily select the moves that suit their gameplay. The ROG Phone 5 Pro and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate models are additionally equipped with innovative rear sensors hidden in the housing that provide the functionality of the L2/R2 trigger buttons, similar to the functionality of a gaming console controller. They also work with ultrasonic sensors, AeroActive Cooler 5 buttons and motion control buttons, giving the user total control and a great gaming experience. Smartphones are powered by a 6000 mAh battery with 65 W HyperCharge fast charging.

In the photographic part we have a 64-megapixel main camera, supported by a 13 Mpx wide-angle module and 5 Mpx for macro. The selfie camera is 24-megapixel. The GameFX sound system on ROG Phone 5 series phones now uses two symmetrical speakers with seven magnets each, the phone also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a hi-fi grade ESS DAC for lossless audio processing.

Everything is closed in a housing with obligatory, aggressive styling with an equally obligatory LED backlight. The new addition is ROG Vision, a unique integrated rear display exclusive to ROG Phone 5 Pro and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate models that shows personalized animations related to gameplay and device status. Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro features the ROG Vision colour screen, while Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has a monochrome version.
