Asus Zenfone 8 - we've been waiting for such a phone!

Asus today presented two models - one of which is truly unique. However, I do not mean the Asus ZenFone 8 Flip model with the tilt camera - and the basic model Asus ZenFone 8. Why I called it unique - read!

Asus ZenFone 8 is a device that has not been on the market for a long time: a compact flagship. In fact, apart from the iPhone 12 mini and Xperia 5 III, there is no competition on the market. Asus ZenFone 8 combines flagship parameters with a size that allows you to hide almost the entire device in your hand. How is Asus ZenFone 8 equipped? Just as a flagship smartphone should be in 2021. On board we find Snapdragon 888 and 6, 8 or even 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The set will include two versions of UFS 3.1 flash memory - 128 or 256 GB - but unfortunately it will not be possible to use a microSD card. The slot can only accommodate two nanoSIM cards. Despite the small dimensions of the phone, it was possible to fit a minijack in it and a battery with a decent capacity of 4000 mAh - with fast charging with a power of 30 W.

Unfortunately, there was no room for an inductive charging coil. Probably for the same reason, the third lens is missing from the back of the housing. We have a camera consisting of two matrices - the main 64 Mpx Sony IMX686 with OIS and f/1.8 aperture and a 12 Mpx IMX363 wide-angle module (f/2.2, 113 degrees). They are complemented by a selfie camera in the display aperture. This is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 matrix with an f/2.45 lens.

All cameras are equipped with AF, and since I have already mentioned the display, in Zenfone 8 we have a 5.9-inch super AMOLED E4, provided by Samsung Display. The screen has a Full HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a Gorilla Glass Victus cover. The icing on the cake are stereo speakers. Everything is closed in a housing available in two colors with an IP68 tightness class. The set also includes an aesthetic cover.

How much will the compact Asus ZenFone 8 cost? There will be three versions to choose from - hence and three prices:

8+128 GB - 598 EUR
8+256 GB - 699 EUR
16+256 GB - 799 EUR

Prices - as you can see - are flagship, but not exaggerated. The phone has a strong specification, handy size and basically only three shortcomings: microSD, inductive charging and a telephoto lens.
