ASUS has officially unveiled its latest flagship gaming smartphone in Taiwan. In fact, two smartphones: ROG Phone 5s Pro and ROG Phone 5s Pro. Both are equipped with AMOLED Full HD+ screens with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processors and up to 18 GB of RAM.
Both debuting models got a 6.78-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED HDR display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 300 Hz. The display in both models is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The processor is supported by a maximum of 18 GB of RAM in ROG Phone 5 Pro, and the memory is up to 512 GB.
Visually, ROG Phone 5s has the same design as the ROG Phone 5, with an illuminated ROG logo (RGB), while the Pro model has a PMOLED colour display. In addition, ROG Phone 5s Pro has two touch sensors on the back, which can be used to control while gaming, and the base model is equipped with the AirTrigger 5 control system.
In terms of photography, the smartphones are equipped with a main 64 MP camera with a Sony IMX686 sensor and f/1.8 aperture, which supports a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 5 MP macro sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The 24 MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture is responsible for selfies.
ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro run on the latest Android 11 operating system with ROG UI. The phones support two SIM cards and have two 7-magnet Linear 12x16 mm front speakers with GameFX and Dirac HD audio, and a Cirrus Logic CS35L45 Mono AMP dual amplifier. There are also Quad microphones with OZO noise canceling technology and a 3.5mm mini-jack socket for those who would like to plug in wired gaming headphones. The phones use ultrasonic sensors for the AirTrigger 5 and handle press detection. There is also Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and NFC. ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro have a 6000mAh battery with 65W HyperCharge fast charging via the USB Type-C port.
The price of the ASUS ROG Phone 5s smartphone in the 16/256 GB version starts at 29,990 Taiwanese dollars, while the 18/512 GB version costs 33,990 NT. It comes in the colors Phantom Black and Aurora White. In turn, ASUS ROG Phone 5s Pro will be sold for 37 990 NT for the 18/512 GB version. It will only be available in Phantom Black. The Pro version also includes the AeroActive Cooler 5 in the box. Both models are now on sale in Taiwan, with shipments starting August 24.
