In the era of a pandemic and the often encountered requirement to wear masks, unlocking your smartphone with face recognition isn’t the most convenient solution. Especially on the iPhone, where that's the only way to protect access... But a good change is coming!
According to Macrumors reports, Apple is preparing a system update that will allow you to use the Face ID face recognition system without removing the mask. The software will have an option to switch face recognition to mask mode. The system will then focus on recognizing the unique features of the face around the eyes and forehead. Apple points out, however, that security in this mode is slightly less effective. In addition, there will also be an option to recognize faces with glasses.
The solution is available in the iOS 15.4 beta version - and only for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. If the users still want to stay with the traditional, "full" Face ID - this option will remain. You will then be able to use the previously introduced option to unlock the phone with the Apple Watch - as long as we have this watch and carry it on our wrists.
