The establishment of the Hi nova brand was one of Huawei's ways to circumvent US sanctions and produce 5G smartphones. A third model with this logo has just arrived: Hi nova 9 SE.
The Hi nova brand is officially owned by China Post Communications Equipment - a company not subject to US sanctions. However, Huawei is responsible for smartphone designs, and the previous Hi nova 9 and Hi nova 9 Pro models were simply renamed Huawei Nova 9 and Huawei Nova 9 Pro models. The new Hi nova 9 SE model should therefore be a clone of Huawei Nova 9 SE. Is it really so?
Hi nova 9 SE received a display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches, Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The model is based on the Snapdragon 695 processor, supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of flash memory. The phone is powered by a 4000 mAh battery with 66-watt charging, and a 16 Mpx camera takes care of the selfie. At the back, in turn, there is the main 108 Mpx camera, supported by an 8 Mpx unit for wide-angle photos and two 2 Mpx cameras for macro and background blurring. The phone is offered in three color versions and two prices: 2499 yuan for the 128 GB model and 2699 for the version with 256 GB memory. After conversion, we have 390-422 USD. So as you can see, as expected, Hi nova 9 SE is the Huawei Nova 9 SE counterpart with 5G network support unlocked.
